WHAT’S HAPPENING
Millions of Ukrainian familes are displaced due to the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory. With over 6.5 million people displaced, many are seeking shelter in damaged buildings with limited access to clean water, food, electricity, and heat.
WHAT WE’RE DOING
The S2S Project is working to source, transport, and distribute essential winter items such as clothing, blankets, and heaters in addition to food and generators.
S2S is also providing over 40 rapid deployment water filtration systems to serve hundreds of thousands who are currently without clean water.

HOW COLD ARE UKRAINIAN WINTERS
Ukrainian winters are notoriously cold, with temperatures reaching below freezing. During winter months (December - March) the country averages 23-26 degrees Fahrenheit, with some regions with regular temperatures below zero.

WHAT ARE CURRENT CONDITIONS
Conflict has disrupted Eastern Ukraine since 2014, with full-scale war erupting in February 2022 with the invasion by Russian forces.
With extensive damage to the Ukrainian infrastructure, power failures are becoming more common, and many have been forced to flee and leave their belonging behind.

WHO IS MOST AT RISK
With an estimated 6.2 million displaced and fleeing their homes, they are now facing a new challenge of surviving the harsh winter months. Many of these refugees left quickly with only what they could pack into a car, leaving much of their winter clothing behind.
Elderly refugees are most at risk this winter. Elderly people tend to be less mobile and my be physically unable to leave their homes to seek shelter and safety.
